Rear View

When I had first started this project I had a different idea in mind until last night. I was parking my car in the garage when something occurred to me. I thought it would be so weird if I could see the whole galaxy in my rear view mirror. I thought it would be something different and out of the blue so I decided to continue this idea.

Surreal Photo Part 1

I have a had a couple different ideas for my surreal project. One my best ideas have been to have a photograph of myself sitting on a chair and watching TV in my house. In the TV I would not be watching anything but a reflection of myself. I want to do this because I once had a dream similar to this.

Surreal Artist Inspiration

ARNO RAFAEL MINKKINEN is an American photographer. He is known for his nude self-portraits. He was born in Helsinki in 1945. He and his family moved to America in 1951. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY. He went to Wagner College on Staten Island. He started taking self-portraits in 1971. He earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in photography in 1974.

Artist name: ARNO RAFAEL MINKKINEN

Title: unknown

Date: 4/15/2013

Description: Arno uses his own body in this picture. It’s a reflection photo. His hand is reflecting off the water. He also used the black and white filter in this photo.

Analysis: This picture is vertical. The background is blurred. The main focus is the hand and the pen.
Interpretation: I don’t know if this picture has a set meaning to it. I think the Arno is trying to show that water can be used as a mirror. To show a reflection image.

Judgment: I think this is a very successful piece. I really like the concept. I also really like the whole theme of this image.

Ronen Goldman is an artist and Conceptual Photographer. He is from the city of city of Tel Aviv, Israel. He is specializing in creating "Photo-Dreams".

Artist name: Ronen Goldman
Title: unknown
Date: 4/15/2013
Description: The stairs are upside down. It’s like a maze or a puzzle that these two people are stuck in. the green bag is the only thing being balanced right.
Analysis: This picture is vertical. The stairs are the wrong way. This picture defies the laws of gravity.
Interpretation: I can’t understand what this picture means.
Judgment: I like this picture because of all the craziness going on in the picture. I like how the guy is going upwards and the girl is going downwards. All in all I thought it was a nice concept.

These are two completely different works of art. There artist are very different as well. It is hard to compare the two because they both have two completely different concepts. It would be really hard to choose one but if I had to I would pick Arno’s work. I like the whole idea in general of his work. I feel like his work has a little more life in it.

Artist Inspirations

"Lily Pony"                                                          Claude Monet

I am inspired by this artist and his ways of painting. I really like the green and clean feel. It makes u feel like you’re in a nice and healthy environment. The flowers in the pond really add a nice touch to it.

"Over Vitebst"                                                      Marc chagall

I am inspired by this artist because of the way he paints. Marc Chagall is from Vitebsk. That is where he is from so it shows that he hasn’t forgotten his roots. I really like the snow because it doesn’t snow like this anymore.

"The persistence of memory"                               Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali is also a great inspiration to me. He paints what he dreams. Just like his painting “The persistence of memory”. This painting is really famous. He started from the bottom and worked his way up. People didn’t always understand his view. He was different but that’s what makes him great.

"The three musicians"                                           Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso’s painting always inspires me. One of his most famous one is “The three musicians”. This painting is kind of like puzzle. It makes you think. It is out of the ordinary and that’s why Picasso is really good inspiration.
"Virgin of the Rocks"   Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the greatest inspirations out there. He was a multi-talented guy. I really like his painting “Virgin of the Rocks”. This painting shows how a caring mother is.

"photo walk"         Tiyank 2013

I took this picture when i went photo walking. This was my favorite picture because it show a leading line with the trees. I also really like the shadow and the sun light.

Reflection

"reflection"          Tiyank 2013

I thought it would be nice to take a picture in something that's not a mirror for once. This picture is reflecting off a little shinny table in my parents room.

I had to take a couple of pictures to get it right. It was hard to make it look realistic. It took a lot of time to get the right angle but it turned out nice.

Potrait Series

Tiyank Sahai                                            2013

This is a portrait series of myself. It says a lot about my life and the person I am. The protein shows my dedication for the gym. The car keys shows my love for cars. The rest of the pictures show a little bit of my serious side. I changed the colors in order for the portrait to catch the viewers attention. The colors make the art stand out a bit more.

Photography composition

Leading line

Leading Line: A line that leads to something or some where.

This picture works because it is showing how a line is leading to the mouse. It is a leading line. It shows where it is taking you.

Rhythm

Rhythm: A rhythm is like a pattern it continues one after another.

This picture works because all of the lockers are lined up together. They are lined up in a pattern. It is going in a rhythm.

Framing

Framing: Like a border around a picture.

This picture works great because the hands are representing a frame. This a how the picture would look with a frame around it.

Horizontal

Horizontal: Left to right

This picture works good because the all the objects in the picture are going left to right. From the desks to the computers to the outlet everything is going left to right.

Vertical

Vertical: Up and down

This picture works good because it is going top to bottom. It is a rectangular object coming off the ceiling.

Informal Balance

Informal Balance: Different shapes and sizes.

This picture works good because it shows a good example of informal balance. They are both phones yet one is bigger than the other. They are different shape and size.

Formal Balance

Formal Balance: Two things exactly the same.

In this picture both the outlets are the same. They are identical. They are both formally balanced.

High Key

High Key: When the brightness is very high

In this picture everything is very bright. This picture lacks contrast. It also has a lack of shadows.

Low key

Low Key: When the brightness is very low

This picture the contrast is very high. The tone is darker. It is a little bit hard to see.

Silhouette

Silhouette: The light is coming from behind the object

The background is white. All the light is coming from the back.

Angle
Angle: Different position if the view

These three pictures are positioned differently. All three have different angles. There are three different ways of viewing them.

Distance

Distance: How close or far the picture is taken from

The same lockers picture has been taken from more of a distance every time. The closer you get the more detailed it will get. The farther it gets the more you get to see in the image. The closer you are the better details you will get.

Focus

Focus: How clear or unclear the picture is

In the first picture is very sharp. The second picture is very blurry. The first picture is very sharp and detailed. The second picture if very focused on one thing.

First snow

Snow                                                                      Tiyank Sahai

I love the snow. It brings back childhood memorys.
